I went through it for my kids.. lengthy, konchem opikaga chesthe parledu anipinchindi.. kani aha oho anentha kadu. Good things are - if something is missed, they email for it and we can send a scanned copy.. that makes life bit easy.. Also they send status updates periodically, so that helps. | ||

PIO is not machine readbale but OCI is. So eventually they will say everyone need to convert from PIO to OCI eventhough PIO is deemed OCI No Signature | ||

New Rules for PIO Effective 30th Sept 2014, as per the Notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the PIO rules have changed and will still have further updates A PIO Card issued to an applicant shall be valid for his / her lifetime from the date of issue provided that such applicant has a valid US or Foreign Passport The above is valid for existing PIO Cards and as well as New PIO Cards issued post 30th Sept 2014-11-21 PIO Card holders if staying in India for a period of over 6 months need not go to FRRO (Local) and get their extended stay endorsed.
