R&D advancements in storage and energy efficiency are on all time high. Much awaited Tesla PowerWall and PowerPack made entry into market. Yes it is revolutionary.. but ultimately, return on investment matters for consumer.

> Tesla PowerWall for Home application:
Model1: 7kWh with 92% efficiency (6.4kWh) - Daily Cycle (charge and discharge same day)
Model2: 10kWh Weekly Cycle (discharges over a week)
7kWh is commonly preferred model among homes. both have 10 year warranty period.

> Costs: Installation costs of Solar&Inverter+PowerWall
4kWp Three Phase+7kWh Powerwall: $10,500
4kWp Single Phase+7kWh Powerwall: $11,600
6kWp Three Phase+7kWh Powerwall: $12,000
6kWp Single Phase+7kWh Powerwall: $13,000

> Generation & storage: 4kWp Single Phase+7kWh Powerwall Generates 15.6kWh/day during morning, 7.5kWh is stored in PowerWall and balance feed into grid.

> Benefit to consumer: Power bill savings equal to 7.5kWh and additional income from 8.1kWh feed into grid @ feed-in-tariff.

> Payback:
- 23yrs for 4kW and 21yrs for 6kW. Payback is 2.1x-2.3x of 10yr warranty period
- if 50% of balance solar power is also consumed during morning then payback period would be 17 years and if 100% consumed 14 years
- with existing rooftop solar payback is is 22.5yrs
- Only if balance solar power is fully consumed with existing solar installation, payback is 10.5years.

> Economics doesn't workout unless installation provides extended warranty for upto 20yrs to cover investment.

> It is advised to wait till Storage costs drops below $200-$250/kW from a present cost of $400/kW. Over last 5 years, storage costs have dropped from more than $1,100/kW.

> Cost below $200/kW will assure payback in 10-12 years and returns above investment thereon.

Storage Tech is revolutionary by all means and way of life for future, but time to hold your guns at the moment..
