idi ayite correct , secbad to oldcity direct connection without the traffic on the road, super untadi complete aite. I don't have to catch a bus or cab to go to secbad when this is completed.

Hyderabad: L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail has made it clear to the Telangana state government that opening of the Nagole to Mettuguda stretch on June 2 will not be possible because of pending clearances for the safety certificate.

L&T has stated that there are still a few departments that need to clear the processes required for the railway safety certificate. It’s claimed that these formalities will take at least two to three months and it will not be possible for the project to get a clearance by May 31.

While the company maintains this stand, sources said that the operational cost of the Nagole to Mettuguda is too high. A senior officer said, “It is an eight-km stretch and off-loading passengers at Mettuguda does not serve the purpose. Passengers will have to take another transport to reach their destination. Hence it is not a nodal point.”

However, if the Miyapur to S.R. Nagar stretch is started, it will be commercially viable as it is a heavy traffic route and well-connected. Eighty per cent works are completed on this 20-kilometre stretch, according to officials.

Another senior officer said, “The first experience of the Metro is what the commuter will remember. Hence if he/she is put to hardships and has to opt for other modes of transport, the purpose is not served. We want to start a stretch which will make people realise that it will change their life and make travel easy in the city.”

L&T: We will complete it
After discussions with the Telangana state government, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited chairman S.N. Subrahmanyan, said, “We have had meetings and written to them. At this point in time we are not looking at any compensation or arbitration with the government. It is the first public-private project of the company and we want to complete it.”

The estimated total cost of the project is Rs 14,000 crore and Rs 9,000 crore has been spent. The project is financed through an equity of 30 per cent and 70 per cent by debt. The company has raised debt of nearly Rs 11,500 crore from a consortium of 10 banks.

The Centre has sanctioned Rs 1,458 crore under their viability gap funding of which Rs 600 crore has been drawn. In all, 62 per cent of work has been completed. Interestingly, this is the first project that Mr V.B. Gadgil has left incomplete.

JBS to falaknuma is delayed due to the route this phase takes, it passes through the secunderabad area which has older structures like the oliphanta bride, the traffic that passes through that area is huge. Also SCR owns some of the properties around that place and its a densly populated area I guess so acquisition of land etc is taking more time and hence the delay in this phase. SecBad area vallu updates iste telustadi, manadi otherside of the phase (falaknuma area)

At Sultan Bazaar, work was slow due to low overhead cables. A senior L&T officer said, “To work with a crane is difficult because the electric wires are low. Because of this, large machines are not being deployed.”

Elsewhere, properties are under litigation and they have to be acquired before work can proceed. A senior government officer said that legal issues on acquisition of properties were being dealt with from a humanitarian perspective.

“Taking speedy decisions on those stretches is not possible. The most sensitive is the issue of Padma Hamsa Apart-ments at Secunderabad and Troydon building at Jubilee Hills,” he said.

L&T has been writing to the government about the reasons for the delay of the project constantly.

“At every point there is a communication from them. They can use them to build up a case and say the delay was due to the government’s failure in,” an officer said

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail has asked the residents of Transstroy building at Jubilee Hills to vacate the building by June 1 as it will be demolished for Metro Rail works to begin.

Transstroy building had been obstructing Metro works at Jubilee Hills due to which there was a gap in the works for two years. There were constant negotiations with the owners of the property for the same.

There are also many buildings in Yusufguda, which are causing a lot of inconveniences to traffic. Mr N.V.S. Reddy, managing director of HMR, said, “Demolition works are going to be expedited on this stretch. The roads will also be re-carpeted for easy flow of traffic.”

Illegal hoardings in Krishnanagar are also a cause of concern as the work on viaduct segments has been stalled because of them. Similarly, a portion of Rehmat Complex at Ameerpet has to be demolished for viaduct works to be carried out at that junction.

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway has leased out one acre of land at Chilkalguda to Hyderabad Metro Rail to facilitate the construction of Metro Rail over the Oliphanta bridge.

The land will be used to assemble and launch the Metro Rail bridge. Work is expected to be completed by January next.

According to HMR managing director N.V.S. Reddy the pre-fabricated steel bridge structure will be bought from Ghaziabad to Secunderabad for the Oliphanta ROB. Of the eight Metro Rail overbridges in the twin cities, the Oliphanta structure is said to be the toughest.

The Metro Rail bridge will be built 28 feet above the Oliphanta bridge. This separation is needed to allow the railways to operate double-decker services later on. SCR has specified that no Metro Rail pillar will be located between the railway tracks or on railway land.

Accordingly, the Metro Rail main span will be 275 feet without any support and will be 60 feet above the road level. HMR will also need to factor a sharp 128-metre radius road curvature.

Mr Reddy said the steel bridge weighing about 1,100 tonnes was fabricated and assembled at an engineering factory in Ghaziabad. He said to withstand the stresses on the structure, high strength friction grip bolts were used.

The bridge will be dismantled at Ghaziabad and brought to Secunderabad by July. A temporary multi-pillar support structure called “trestle structure”, which will be about 500 feet, would be assembled on the railway land to facilitate work on the Metro Rail bridge.

Mr Reddy said the earlier plan was to launch the work from the Lekha Bhavan and Gopalapuram police station side but that would have delayed the bridge construction by a year.
