there are some apartment/condo communities in US as well where you can do that. But social bonding is better in India. | ||

Gated Communities are the best thing happened to upper middle class folks in India. This is something we don't normally get in any other country. (Exceptions are there of course). My son and my daughter have scores of friends in the same apartment complex and they spend all their free time in the play area/park/recreational area. Since it is a well guarded community, there is no "Are they safe?" kind of fear. In my apartment complex, the total population is around 4000 and it is a mini village in itself. I don't have to venture out for anything (Unless of course I want to go to a movie or buy a car). It is incredibly convenient and safe. I love this particular aspect of living in India (upper middle class life). Now that I am relocating to the UK, there is going to be gross mismatch between the kind of house we have here in India vs the cramped houses/apartments in the UK.
