Rajusk:also Amazon CEO said he is increasing investment in India to $5 Billion
The top stars betting big on India were Rupert Murdoch's Star group and Jeff Bezos-led Amazon. Amazon committed a fresh investment of $3 billion, in addition to the $2 billion it announced in 2014 US India Business Council (USIBC) president Mukesh Aghi named American Tower Company and Emerson among the other companies to have made big investment announcements at $4 billion and $1 billion respectively. John Chambers, who's also USIBC chairman, pointed out that in September 2014, the member companies had indicated an investment of $41 billion over a two to three year period. ''Today, I am happy to announce that in less than two years, about 20 per cent of USIBC member companies have already invested $28 billion.'' He said the pace of investment would accelerate in the next two to three years. Expressing confidence that the country will remain the fastest growing economy over the next five years, he said, "'Prime Minister Modi has rapidly become the model for not just the developing countries, but the entire world." |

http://zeenews.india.com/news/india/big-win-with-no-objectio ns-from-member-nations-india-all-set-to-join-missile-technol ogy-control-regime_1892686.html India 'automatically' joins Missile Technology Control Regime, can now buy high-end missile technology New Delhi: In a major win for India, the members of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), a key anti-proliferation grouping, are reported to have cleared the way for the South Asian nation's membership News agency Reuters quoted diplomats as saying that India had sought admission to the 34-nation grouping and none of the members had objected to it when the deadline for them to raise objections expired on Monday. Diplomats from four MTCR member nations told Reuters on the condition of anonymity that India's admission has been accepted automatically under the so-called 'silent procedure' of the group. The development is significant and came ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled meeting with President Barack Obama in Washington later on Tuesday. The Prime Minister is currently on a visit to the United States. Being a member of the MTCR, India would be able to buy high-end missile technology and possibly state-of-the-art surveillance drones like the US Predator, Reuters reported. The Ministry of External Affairs had said before PM Modi left for a five-nation tour last weekend that the MTCR process was "looking good". No official comment was available from MEA spokesman Vikas Swarup, who is travelling with the PM. |
