Disagree - while this process does start with memorizing - there is a lot of cultural and linguistic learning that is needed to reach this level ..and once you build the memory and processing muscle it can be applied to other fields as well .. I dont know how spelling bee as a competition is conducted...or how kids spell those complex words..[ I mean syllabus..or some coaching institutes or is it only voluntary] ide kaadu even Geography meeda kuda edo competition jarugutundi anukuntaa kaada.... you are mixing up things here......spelling bee competitions is a separate thing........parents exerting pressure on kids is a different issue......this can happen in any endeavor........not just spelling bee..... if anything, I wud think the single most important thing is to learn language and ability to communicate it.........as vocabulary grows, thinking improves.........words are thoughts..........and as u learn words, ur horizon expands.........anyways, different topic altogether...... bottomline, patience, perseverance, and most importantly "focus and concentration"....many other desirable aspects.....being a master of anything has its own beauty.......anukutunnaa.......... kudos to the kids....great job..... | ||
