We already know Kids abandoning Parents because they are financially burdensome. That's a different topic for a later time. As for Marriages and early-on Divorces... The entire responsibility is definitely on the Groom, culturally that is!!! And there is always a give-and-take policy involved. You give the Groom something, then you can expect the Groom to match with your Expectations!!! A man, well-educated, has a fine career, is expected to financially support a woman and their kids, buy stuff for the house, buy a house, plan for their retirement together, and won't receive anything for any of it, because he's a man... So, there it goes, Dowry is not a bad thing. At the same time, dowry in terms of financial freedom of the bride is not at all a bad option. But that is not all, a satisfying Wedding Event, in terms of hospitalities offered, expenses borne etc also go a long way. After all, a woman, such a precious thing, is being handed-over to a man, to be taken care of and nurtured to build a nice happy family, one would definitely want to ensure the Groom's family is satisfied. Additionally, so long as the Bride attempts to get along well with her in-laws, involve in house-hold chores, all of it will go a long way in building the wedding bond for the initial 3 years. It is wrong to hide facts that will anyways be out wide-and-open soon after the wedding event, at the time of the event.. such as terminal illnesses, or financial status etc. Bride's father should be ashamed to first begin thinking about cutting wedding costs despite the financial ability to match with a reasonable budget for the wedding. Any father should also be ashamed to depend on, and expect financial support for daily sustenance from their daughters. As such all those men should be ashamed who rely on earning potential of women in the family. A woman's career is strictly meant for Additional Income in the family.
