Platypus:

I know a telugu family whose kid got into the best grammer school this year. They were in reading and only moved out of reading to be close to grammer school. I can check with them about schools and where they got tuition for their boy if it helps.

Thank you. I can't afford private schooling. So it has to be county school or if my daughter can make it, a grammar school.

Grammer schools ki there is an entrance exam which is quite tough. There are coaching centers for these grammer schools which cost around £2500 per year.

Popular tuition centers for grammer school as far as I am aware are Sir TAilor and AE tuitions.

My friends whose kids went for grammer school preferred to send their kids to sir tailor and buy AE books online so you got references from both places.

Coming to private it becomes very expensive from this age. My son who goes to private nursery costs me around £1000 per month. This is without any expensive field trips etc. But as they go to higher classes, they have field trips or excusions which will cost arm and a leg. I would imaging you would be looking around £1200-£1500 a month on private per child. If you can keep £1500 a month for private school, they are awesome.

Public schools are pure lottery. There are some good ones and some bad ones. I personally dont want to send my son to public school. Its not that I am snobbish or floating in money but after seeing the level of facilities and quality in private school, I just couldnt make that compromise. But some public school are as good as private schools. You have to do some research into public schools in reading.

Hope this helps a bit and others might have better knowledge on this subject than me as my little one is still in nursey. So, my knowledge is slightly limited.

Konchem education sector gurinchi cheppi puNyam kattukondi. I am relocating to Reading UK sometime this year and my family will join me later. My daughter is 7 years old. What are the schools I should be looking at? I heard about Grammar schools that have fierce competition but what is the minimum grade offered by them?

For a 7/8 year old, the options are county schools and private schools?
