For Varakala, a 36-year-old computer engineer with 12 yearsâ experience, life now was supposed to be very different. Last year, he received an H-1B. The company, Agile Health Technologies of Naperville, Ill., had listed an âin-house projectâ on its H-1B application as its reason for hiring him and promised a $70,000 salary. But, he said, âWhen I went there, there was no job. ⦠But I understood that only when I got there. How could I know before that?â Sasikant Gandhamaneni, CEO of Agile Health Technologies, declined to comment for this story.
