Andhras and other "uncivilised" countries participated in Mahabharata war on behalf of Kauravas.. which again shows according to author Vyasa ..the uncivilised countries supported adharama... and about Aitreya brahamana..historians deduce it as oldest known source where the word Andhras come up.. they date Aitreya Brahmana at 600BC.. but the contents written in it might be older too.. For example the word Andhras come in a topic where raja harishchandra [ who is 54 generations older to Rama of Ikshvaaku] does yagna..and Sunahsepa becomes yagna pasu..Vishwamitra like courage of Sunahsepa and adopts him..a gives him a position of elder son..which is condemned by 50 elder sons.. Vishwamitra curses his 50 sons... " You shall have the lowest "castes" for your descendants.Therefore are many of the most degraded classes of men, the rabble for the most part, such as the Andhras, Pwidras, Saharas, Paltndas, and Miitibas, descendants of Visvamitra."[by Martin Haug] Krishamurthy in his telugu translation says... you 50 sons go and live with "unaryans" bordering aryavarta... One can see this incident as aryanisation of un-aryans..Andhras...These Vishwamitra sons..imparted aryan knowledge to all these tribals.. This did not happen in 600BC..book was written then... | ||

After reading many books..like telugu basha charitam by Bhadiraju Krisnamurthy.. and also aitreya brahamana..[7 Adyaya...3 chapter]..both sanskrit and english versions[ translation by baugh]...This what I deduce about history of Andhras[ not Satavahanas]... Bhagavatha 9 skandam 29 adyaya says...King Bali[ not bali chakravarthy we know] of Chandravamsha had 6 sons... named Anga Vanga Kalinga Andhra Simba Pundra.. each of them ruled these places .. In the same bhagavatas 2 skandam 14 adyaya 16 slokam this is written... kirÄta-hūṇÄndhra-pulinda-pulkaÅ›Ä ÄbhÄ«ra-Å›umbhÄ yavanÄḥ khasÄdayaḥ ye 'nye ca pÄpÄ yad-apÄÅ›rayÄÅ›rayÄḥ Å›udhyanti tasmai prabhaviṣṇave namaḥ Kiraatas, Huṇas, Andhras, Pulindas, Pulkasas, abhÄ«ras, Sumbhas, Yavanas and members of the Khasa races, and even others addicted to sinful acts can be purified by taking shelter of the devotees of the Lord, for He is the supreme power. I beg to offer my respectful obeisances unto Him." These two slokas in Bhagavatha shows andhras are uncivilised people... | ||

"History as a subject of study is more or less completely at the mercy of its sources" is the first line in History of Andhras by Durga Prasad....it suits aptly when we are tracing history of satavahanas... Even going by conservative estimates Satavahanas ruled from some where around 350 yrs...and historians got only 24 inscriptions[of that period.. most of these on western side of present day Andhrapradesh[ including T too].. which caused conflicting opinions among historians..based on their school of thoughts... :-) Just like some debunk Aryan invasion theory and majority historians still proposes it...the same way debate about history of satavahanas will always be there till there is a conclusive evidence.. | ||
