I said I doubt if TDP can manage to defeat YSRCP given the slow pace of defections but I did not say no doubt or confirm....there's a chance that the pace of defections may pick up from now... But yes, 34 are enough ani matram anukuntunna...anybody can calculate by themselves. Assembly strength is 176 (including nominated MLA). Voting would be held if 5 nominations are filled. I think he's a terrible choice because it's not reasonable to expect him to make it through the six year term. As soon as the first verdict sentencing him to two years or more is out, he'll be disqualified and the seat would be clinched by TDP in the by election. If YSRCP gets only 35 votes, then the best TDP can do is to allocate 36 to one candidate and 35 to three candidates. I don't know who would be eliminated in this case, I think a draw of lots will decide. If, YSRCP candidate would have a 3/4 probability of sailing through. The only way to ensure the defeat of YSRCP candidate would be to limit YSRCP's votes to 34 or less. Looking at the slow pace of defections, I doubt if TDP can manage this. If there are 5 nominations, voting would be held. Let's say YSRCP gets 36 votes. The total remaining votes would be 140. However TDP allocates these among its candidates, at least one candidate would have less than 36 votes and would therefore be eliminated after counting first preference votes. Only 4 candidates would then be left int he fray so all of them would be declared elected without counting second preference votes. I got mislead by some media or DB reports that said 44 votes. I calculated by myself just now and realized that 44 votes aren't needed. 36 are enough. "Sakshi is a most balanced and independent media.
