bruce lee said something like...express urself completely when you fight( whether punch or kick). i think that may be reason we like or at least I like bruce lee fight. Chiru says enjoy the music and dance while dancing for a movie song.. that could be one of the reasons we like Chiru dance. When Chiru and PK perform comedy.. sometimes it looks so natural to me, it looks so natural that they live in it. same way when Balayya confronts villains in movies like Simha n Lion and many other.. he looks so ferocious and I feel in real life we may really get scared to encounter people like him. He lives in it.. may be he is like that in real life  . That is only action Balayya can do and I like . | ||

my argument is simple and straight... the question of one liking an actors action is actually the question of whether he likes the actor's face,body language, how the actor looks and sounds in a situation; and you biases also come in to play... in-group bias...out-group disliking.. etc... however..if an actor does not actually act but live in the situation in question... express himself/herself completely.. its more like that people connect to it... but again.. in real life.. degree of involvement in situations would change for person to person. So there is actually no ground to say someones action is not good. it all comes to personal liking. in real life... people actually do not cry that easily or seek pity or self pity like the portrayed in movies. | ||

Friday kadha anni log in ayya..Got stuck with Gangleader thread..just came out of that, I see this thread..might not appeal to many here in this DB, but this is a very complex and interesting TOPIC if you want to have a constructive discussion. What is NOT real but make the audience believe to be real is called ACTIING. Actors always perform to the audience. If to satisfy self ego, then they can perform in front of the mirrors which are great stages to practice ACTING. I was student of Madhu Film Institute (topper 2003 acting batch) trained by the renowed stage artiste Chatla Sriramulu. We awlays had arguments that Are actors born or made ? My answer is simple Actors are BORN and can never be made. Directors like Shanker, Raj Kumar Hirani, Rajamouli can make dumb actors look good by enhancing the scene with strong content, but actors can prove their mettle only when they reach out to the masses. You need to play to the galleries. If majority of the people in a auditorium connect with your emotions be it comedy, tragedy etc then YOU ARE A TRUE ACTOR. Now with examples (restricting only to Telugu) : SVR, NTR - Are dramatic in their emotions but can arrest your interst with their overall skills (body language, dialogue modulation). They are natural actors. ANR, Kamal Hassan (no other actor in Telugu under this category, so had to borrow Tamil actor) : Method Acting. They personally live in that character to bring the nuanaces of that role. Check out Batasari & Mooga Manasulu of ANR. Ikka Kamal antara..I can give you 100s of examples for his high quality talent : 1. Vasantha Kokila (SADMA) : Movie by Balu Mahendra. Entire movie is an author backed role for Sridevi. Ultimate acting by her in every frame. No where did she give scope to Kamal to dominate. Then comes the climax at station. Duration will be 5-6 mins. Kamal's acting gives you a lump in your throat when you come out of the movie. No wonder he was given Best Actor Award by TN State Government for that movie. THAT IS THE POWER OF A GREAT ACTOR. 5 mins scene chaalu to change the mood of the whole movie. 2. Like wise Sagara Sangamam after he comes to know that Jaya Pradha is a widow till he dies. 3. Mahanadhi - When he goes to Kolkkatta red llight area in search of his daughter 4. Apporva Sodharalu - AT the registrar office. 5. Thevar Magaan (Ksyhtriya Puthrudu) - When Sivaji Ganesan dies & climax when he walks to the Jail. In my opnion, if you pick the sample size of Telugu Commercial Movies from 1980 to 2000, it is only Chiranjeevi (from 1 to 8) and then Rajendra Prasad & Venkatesh as 9 & 10 ranking will come under the TOP 10 actors. If you do not like Rajendra Prasad & Venkatesh then it is your perception kaani, out of the 9 raasas, they can excel in atleast 3-4 raasas for sure. Venky is good in comedy timmming and revolt roles (Shatruvu, Dharmak Chakram etc). Rajendra Prasad is great in movies like erramandharam, aa nalugru and also movies like Appula Appar Rao, April 1 vidudhala Need to log off and head back to home kabbati..stopping here..but will try to catch up if this thread survives till next week Bye | ||

Nisarga In my opinion two ways. Natural and far away from reality or ideal or virtual Natural ones always classics or award wining movies story oriented Story drives not the hero or heroine Very few such movies Most of mass meaning and senseless movies far away from reality Of course u keep ur senses a side watch for fun Majority looks for fun so mass acting scores better Driving is my PASSION. why i say it may be all about individual's taste is... for me... Rajendraprasad's comedy is irritating....its not at all natural for me... when he says " kada and laughs like hehehe.. I really get irritated.."... but other people like it.. for me Rajendraprasad's comdey is vekili comdedy same way .. I dont like Kamal hasan's action...I get irritated with his over reactions over innocent expressions... but ppl say he is a gr8 actor.. same way Venkatesh's comedy is irritating for me.... I think is whether one like one's action is all about individual's liking and biases ..no use in fighting about it.... | ||

what is it!!! acting is enacting a fictitious situation.... behaving as if he/she is in that particular situation in question in real life.... if that is the definition of acting... how do we measure it?? people may behave in similar way in different situations... but the degree of their emotion/reaction/behavior can be/is different.... and also their facial expressions or histrionics in that situation are different..... if one likes or feels someone's behavior is true or not depends on him/her.. and the facial features/expressions of the performer in question... different people's facial expression can be different in different situation.. in these lines.... we cannot say that someone does not know action... we can only say I do not like his/her action. the liking is subjective.... also... if the performer expresses him/her self fully... meaning he/she really feels the situation in question...it's more likely that the majority of audience like/feel it.... again it depends on the audience though.... I can not quite appreciate when people here strongly say some hero does not know action... |
