People need to know about history of kohinoor and how british empire got it..and is british is entitled to give it back to india.. will tell the history in brief.. Some believe Kohinoor is mythical "Samanthaka Mani" which was there with Satravajiit and he gave it to Krishna as a gift along with Satyamabhama.. But historical evidences point out that "kohinoor"[ then has no name] was with Rajputs[ Malwa] ..after losing war to Alaudin Khilji they gifted it to him..then shifted to many hands..and Babur got it from Ibrahim Lodhi..it stayed with Moguls till regime of Sultan Mohammad ..but lost it to NadirShah [ of Afghanistan] who defeated Mohammad. Nadirshah used to wear this diamond..and he was assasinated his general got it..from there Maharaja Ranjith singh got it as a gift from the general's son .. and British Empire got it from after they annexed Punjab.. "Kohinoor was given as gift during peace treaty" to British Empire.. From this one can understand Kohinoor was not taken forcibly from Punjab like what Nadir Shah did during Mughal rule..it was given as gift during Peace Treaty by Kings of Punjab.. since its a gift it is in possession of queen and she owns it..India[ which formed later] has no right..because these things happened earlier.. Can India get it back..its very tough the only way can india gets back is UK need to gift it .. when can UK "gift" it only when India becomes more powerful than US and can dictate whole world..is it possible? Kohinoor is taken from one of the country which later became part of India. So India cannot directly claim as it's property since India is not formed at that time. Even if we claim it is integral part of India, if India requests England to return, England cannot return. Since it is property of Queen and queen cannot return without approval of Parliament. No Englnad MP's will vote and commit political suicide. | ||
