The Test Cricket Championship in 1998-1999, when India was playing against Pakistan at the Eden Gardens and was probably chasing a score of 278 to win when Sachin got run out while taking a second run. He was thought to be blocked and pushed on his way to the crease which ultimately caused his dismissal. The crowd got furious and after a few overs (as far as I can remember) it was probably Mohammad Yousuf (Yousuf Youhana at that time) made some gestures to the crowd and it put the jungle on fire. Not only were the bottles and several other objects thrown at the players, there were obscene gestures made by the crowd to the players. The players were taken off the field. But the real shame was yet to take place. RAF was called to the ground and Sachin came out to the field to plead the spectators to allow the match to be continued. And guess what, some people from the crowd started throwing bottles and several other things towards Sachin. After this incident, the crowd was literally charged out of the ground and the match continued on an empty ground. This incident had such an effect that Eden Gardens was banned from hosting any international match, which was later waived off probably when the Late Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya came to the power in ICC.
