GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that he will ensure that money looted by the rich from the banks are brought back. Modi who was addressing election rally in Rangapara said, 'The doors of bank were open for the rich. When banks were nationalised, it was said that it was done for the poor people. However, the poor were deprived.' The prime minister added, 'I have tightened the screw and will ensure that those who looted money from the banks are brought back. I have opened the doors of the bank for poor.' Modi said that he has ended the reign of middlemen. 'I have ended the tenure of middlemen and that is why they are shouting against me. Let me tell them, your days are over. You enjoyed for 60 years,' he said. 'By 2022, my dream is to provide house to every poor and for this even if I have to empty the state exchequer, I will do it,' the Prime Minister said. He said the NDA government has made single largest investment in railways since independence in Northeast region. 'For roadways, we are investing close to Rs 12,000 crore in Assam. In Rangapara area alone, around Rs 2000 crore is invested.' PM Modi added that across the world including the United States, Japan and Germany, India's stature has risen. 'It happened as this government has come with full majority after 30 years in India. I urge people of Assam to give decisive mandate and do not leave it halfway. Decisive mandate will ensure Assam's stature rise at national level. Letter 'A' will be known as Assam.' Attacking Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, he said that he is not affected by cataract for even a blind can say there is hardly any road in the state. 'Gogoi has said that I have cataract so could not see development in Assam. But even a blind person can feel that there is no road here.' Modi said, 'People of Assam has showered love on me and I promise to return the same with interest by development. It is the Congress which gave Assam poverty. One crore people are below poverty line in Assam. Gogoi has cheated the people in last 15 years, dashed their dreams. Congress has made country poor in last 60 years, looted the country.'
