You are right. It's very confusing. Even the official AP govt site posted the growth rate is 10.5% this year at constant prices. This just cannot be true. That must be either a mistake or they are intentionally deceiving the people of this state. I don't see any singificant changes over the past year to have this kind of tremendous growth. If this was at current prices, I would say the growth has slowed down compared the growth the year before (12%) as you mentioned. http://www.ap.gov.in/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/22-02-16-Col lectors-Conference-Intro-speeches.pdf |

I am quite sure, that this is current prices and not constant prices. I had a look at last year's data. 2014/15 - GSDP growth at constant prices was 12.03% while the growth at current prices was 7.2%. This is pretty much in line with national GDP growth last year (7.3%) It is impossible that the GSDP went up from 7.3% to 10.5%. So this has to be current prices. And if this is current prices, then the GDP growth is bad, as it is actually a decline over last year's growth of 12.03%. The real (constant price) growth would be closer to the national average of around 7%. |

In spite of bifurcation pangs, Andhra Pradesh recorded a growth rate of 13.94 per cent in the second quarter, registering an average half yearly growth of 11.77 per cent. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who released the report on the “Quarterly Performance Assessment Report Q2 (July-September) 2015” at the two-day Collectors’ Conference in Vijayawada on Monday, said that Andhra Pradesh is making significant strides in achieving its target of inclusive double-digit growth. Naidu also announced that the administrative city of Amaravati will be completed by 2018, while Andhra Pradesh made a clean sweep of the national energy conservation awards. “After achieving 9.72 per cent in the Quarter 1, the state’s economy has achieved 13.94 percent in the second quarter. Put together, the half yearly growth performance (H1) stands impressive at 11.77 per cent against the target of 10.62 per cent,” Naidu said. The state government is currently working on the comprehensive Double Digit Growth Plan to achieve a per-capita income over Rs 10 lakh by 2029-30. The growth target for 2015-16 at constant prices stands at 10.8 per cent. There is a swift upward surge in the Agriculture and Allied sectors which have registered a phenomenal growth rate at 47.1 per cent at Constant prices. Fisheries and Livestock are the main contributors for the significant growth not only in Agriculture but also to overall GSDP. The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated the process of releasing estimates of the state economic aggregates on a quarterly basis at par with the Central Statistical Organization. Elaborating on the Vision 2029, the Chief Minister said that Andhra Pradesh must be developed as the best state in the country by 2029 and best destination in the world by 2050. For this, registering double digit growth is an important step towards achieving inclusive growth and bringing about a structural change in the economy, he said. Stressing on the need to achieve sustained growth in agriculture for the stabilization of the economy, the Chief Minister said that the primary sector performed well in spite of deficit rainfall this year. “With adequate resources, we must be able to perform better,” he added. The Chief Minister said that the interlinking of river is the biggest achievement of the government. By providing 8 TMCs of water, we were able to save over 8 lakh hectares of land, he said. He also complemented the officials for the successful implementation of government’s Neeru-Chettu programme aimed at improving groundwater levels. He cited Chittoor and Nellore districts as an example, where the groundwater levels were effectively recharged. The CM also said that setting a new milestone in the energy efficiency and energy conservation activities, Andhra Pradesh bagged all the five prestigious Energy Conservation National Awards for the year 2015, constituted by the Union Ministry of Power. The awards AP won are: Best State Designated Agency (SDA) for effectively monitoring, devising and studying best practices for implementation of energy efficiency activities. Best DISCOM – AP Southern Power Distribution Company (APSPDCL), the Energy Department has been chosen as the best DISCOM in the implementation of the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) distribution of LED Bulbs Scheme in 5 districts. Best Urban Local Body in the country – Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), is adjudged as best Urban Local Body in the country for implementation of Energy Efficient LED Street Lighting programme. 4) Best Business Model for Energy Efficiency Activities – APSPDCL has achieved Best Business Model for Energy Efficiency Activities. 5) Best Business Model for Energy Efficiency Activities – Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is again declared as best Business Model for Energy Efficiency Activities. - See more at: http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-news-india/andh ra-achieves-13-94-per-cent-growth-rate-in-second-quarter-win s-national-energy-conservation-awards/#sthash.TPfM9XhG.dpuf Divi is Small OT - Gold.
