I dont know if I can say addiction - but to me this is a place of community, while I am not really particularly close with anyone. Overtime I have admired many folks' points of view. The reason I get stuck here is probably because of Humor, gain knowledge about lot of stuff, and mainly because I get to observe alot of personalities. I have gone without DB for a few years, and every now and then I do not login, and I do not miss DB when I do not login. I have interacted with a few over email outside DB. It is indeed a great place to be. | ||

I got pulled into this DB world and got "addicted to the discussions". I happen to find the DB through general search during INDRA movie days. For me the find was like "Yedari lo Kobbari Neellu" dorikinattu aindi. Regarding the to addiction part, I will question myself like "IF NOT THIS, WHAT ELSE?". If I have a proper answer, then I will switch to the "WHAT ELSE" answer. So far, no answer - This became my hobby and while it impacts my MUST DO things sometimes and somedays, it gives me GREAT PLEASURE to follow the DB and I like my DB addiction - | ||

Very well said however different platforms have different uses, people and content.. whatsapp groups mostly driven by nostalgia - high school friends or convenience - current friends , working groups Etc. DB entry was driven by content from the two mentioned here - found the DB thru platypus's post and got pulled in by Vivekadhara's ..this was in 2007 ..over the years interest in the content has waned, identification with the people has reduced partly because of reduced participation , partly due to the ability to take the more interesting discussions offline .. DB addiction or WhatsApp addiction (Replace with your favorite pass time activity - Facebook or Orkut ) Is it because you are really addicted to the discussions there or you are addicted to the community? By community I mean the people who throng to these DBs. Once your circle DBers move on with their lives, do you still find the DB interesting? In my case, the interest level has been on the decline these days. Was part of a WhatsApp group too but have slowly realized that I didn't quite fit in because my comfort level with the group was not in sync with the general comfort level of the group. Unless you know the people (not necessarily in real life), you don't actually get motivated to participate in the discussions. So when we say we are addicted to a particular DB - we are in fact saying that we are addicted to interacting with a particular set of people on that medium. Once you take them out of that medium, it ceases to be interesting for you and you tend to move away. Adhi naa assessment of the situation. What do you think?
