We are hearing a lot of chit chat about rythulu being unhappy about CBN/TDP. I am not aware about other districts but in Krishna district this year and last year farmers made decent money especially in commercial crops. Normally in commerical crops rent/kavulu is paid in advance , while in rice it is paid later. Last year was so profitable for commericial crops that rents have gone up from 8/9 thousand to 10/12 thousand minimum and being paid in advance for not so great lands. Similarly land which was not in conveneient locations to the village etc are also in demand today. Expectations are also high on pattiseema and further chintalapudi and other lifts benefitting uplands of Krishna and West Godavari this year. Aqua farming continues to do well in Krishna and West Godavari districts also. The issue which needs to be addressed as per Farmers I spoke to is in receiving the money for the sale of the agri produce , it is being delayed especially for paddy. I believe this year farmers also made a lot of money in selling hay also. I have not heard a single farmer complain about runamaphi, of course i only speak to tenant farmers , so probably they dont or cannot borrow money from banks. I am not an expert on West Godavari , but the day I spent in their villages in January this year was eye opening. In a lot of places in west godavari land is so fertile that they make 30-40000 per acre easily. They were not complaining but happy in general that apart from agri being profitable they are benefitting from the average increase in price per acre from 10-15 to 20-25 lakhs. Contrary to farmers , there are more complaints about lack of development /jobs from middle class. There has been no additional devpt per se in Vijayawada and even basic infra like roads in villages around vijayawada is bad. Babu seems to be in more trouble due to the high expectations he has created among middle class. All this bullshit about underground see through tunnels , ring roads and bridges. Forget about whether he wins next or not , if he can improve irrigation access in the next few years , AP will benefit. It is blessing in disguise to get separated from Telangana, they would have cried if money was spent on AP irrigation projects. |
