With Chandrababu Naidu hinting that there would be no modifications to the proposed expressways in the master plan, villagers of Krishnayapalem are an agitated lot. They were the first to give their lands to the new capital and that too on the assurance that their homes would in no way be disturbed. But Naidu’s expressways run right through their villages and this time, the villagers are up in arms against Chandrababu. The CM has said he will be meeting them soon to sort out the issue but he cannot be trusted at all considering the number of times he has gone back on his word. “We’ve lost our lands, but we will not lose our homes,” say the villagers. They are now planning to take recourse to legal action. One cannot help feeling sorry for these villagers who are the victims of an authoritarian regime hell-bent on the self-aggrandizement of only the community of the Chief Minister. How many such sacrifices before their thirst or greed is quenched? Or will it ever be quenched? No Signature | ||
