Yes the same nation, which shamelessly bears the curse of 14207 farmers suicide in 2011, 13755 in 2012, 11772 in 2013 and 12360 in 2014, is now taking political positions and making social commentary on caste oppression on Vemula for being a dalit to depressed Vemula or an intolerant Vemula against the right-wing to the extent that he canât even bear the sight of the saffron colour. Probably all three are true. But question remains who killed Rohith Vemula? Yes it is the same people who are responsible for the farmersâ suicide, which accounts for nearly 11.2% of all suicides in India today. Rohith Vemula Yes, Rohith Vemula is a victim of Indiaâs politics. If anyone is responsible for his death itâs the left, the right and the Congress, the socialist and all hues of politics from Arvind Kejriwal to Manik Sarkar, from Asaduddin Owaisi to Pravin Togadia. The only politics this country is left with is politics of power, corruption, deceit, murder and to the extent of measuring the countryâs economy from the yardstick of corporate sponsorship for elections to post election quid-pro-quo and sex-sleaze in deciding policy. And if still we are looking for an answer to who killed Rohith Vemula, the answer is âwho has not?â Rohith Vemula is a victim of political sacrifice. He is the symbol of communal India, casteist India, opportunistic India. He is the sacrificial lamb of the modern day dynastiesâ political âhavanâ performed by Lalus, Scindias, Gogois, Patnaiks, Chautalas, Badals, Pawars, Mulayams, Abdullahs, Sayeeds and of course the Gandhis among the unending list of rulers for whose upkeep we pay tax. Even the British can learn a lesson or two from us on how to divide a country to be the PM, CM, MP, MLA, IAS, IPS or cook up an unholy alliance so that no one speaks for the country. And thatâs probably what Rohith Vemula meant in his letter, when he mentioned his dream to be a man of science and how politics dragged him to a soul less entity. smriti So just as BJP cannot wash its hands off, the left is equally culpable of Rohith Vemulaâs death and so are the leaders who flew down to fuel the fire of hatred they have so carefully cultivated for India. Yes Indian politics killed Rohith Vemula â you may call it micro-management of studentsâ politics by the right-wing, or casteist Congressâ bigger agenda or Leftâs strategy for communal unrest in India.
