As of today, PIO vunte OCI avasaram ledu. but who knows after 1 year if they change the rules we must apply. Ippudu $20 application fee and $15 courier charge to pani ayipothundi. Otherwise OCI fee is around $300. | ||

So i can use my passport and pio card in the mean time if i want to travel? As announced earlier, PIO card have life-long validity. Endorsement stating that existing PIO card is valid for life would be made at the first immigration point with which the PIO cardholder comes into contact, be it the Indian Mission, FRRO or an immigration check-point. I started this process for my kid in back in October and received the OCI card last week. I sent it through Postal to Chicago office. Everything went well, they communicated all status through emails and also we can track the status online. No need to send any original documents initially along with the application. We send notarized copies only, Once they receive the application with all copies, they verify it here and send the packet to India office - New Delhi. In India they complete the process, Print the OCI card and sent back to US office where ever applied. All this process took 2 months Once they received the OCI card, they asked me to send Original Passport and original PIO card. With in a week they return the Passport, OCI and cancelled PIO card. | ||
