and Heritage Foods too Heritage Foods has won National Energy Conservation Awards 2015, both first and second prizes, in the dairy sector from the Union Power Ministry. Nara Brahmani, Executive Director of Heritage Foods, in a statement said, “We won the awards in the years 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. While this is an industry record by itself, we have reached a new milestone by winning both the awards this year. We have sustained our efforts towards conservation of energy in our dairy units.” Piyush Goyal, Power Minister, handed over the awards at New Delhi. This is for the first time that any state in the country has clinched all the national awards in the area of energy conservation, which will immensely benefit the state & stakeholders in a big way. Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy, I & I, CRDA received a communication to this effect on Thursday from Secretary, Ministry of Power & Director General, Bureau of Energy efficiency. The awards won by AP government are: Best State Designated Agency (SDA) for effectively monitoring, devising and studying the best practices for implementation of energy efficiency activities. AP Southern Power Distribution Company (APSPDCL), the Energy Department has been chosen as the best DISCOM in the implementation of the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) distribution of LED Bulbs Scheme in 5 districts. Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), Is adjudged as best Urban Local Body in the country for implementation of Energy Efficient LED Street Lighting programme. APSPDCL has achieved Best Business Model for Energy Efficiency Activities. Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is again declared as best Business Model for Energy Efficiency Activities. Speaking on this occasion, I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary and Chairman of AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) and Ajay Jain, who is also Vice Chairman of SECM said that, it is the second great honour of the state after getting universal recognition in Paris Global summit on climate change where some of the universal energy experts have highlighted AP’s bold initiatives in Energy Efficiency programmes, which have attracted global attention. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed immense satisfaction over achieving this rare distinction. He further directed the SECM, Energy Department to strive hard to compete for Asian & Global awards in the field of energy conservation. The Government will receive the awards December 14 at a function to be held at the Vignan Bhawan in New Delhi. |
