one of my frens FB post... Being born as a Christian ( I know its an accident) I like Hindu religion for the following reasons. There are other things why I like it for, but for now I keep it for a couple of points. This is little lengthy but felt worth writing. 1) Trees - Hindu religion makes some of trees as Gods. The underlying meaning of this is to save trees. I see some of trees standing in the middle of the road because no one could touch it and this is the best thing you can ever to do to save our planet. If you talk to anyone who was around here about 50 yrs back, they would tell you that this place ( take most of the places in India ) looked like a forest with lots of trees and no one during that time would have ever imagined a planet without trees. Around 300 BC, I always wonder what would have made Asoka the Great think about planting trees. I call those people as visionaries and salute the Hindu religion for accomodating the such a concept of saving trees. 2) Cow worship - People who follow Hindu religion perform cow worship. It is their holy animal. The underlying meaning is, not to kill animals. They have been worshiping it since centuries and protected it, which is always a good thing. Hindus dont eat meat during the whole month of Karthika and on most of their festivals where as other religions prefer ONLY meat on theirs festivals. My point is, the whole Hindu religion is based upon eating vegetarian food their entire life. Other side of it, they have been able to protect the animals up to some extent. Organization like PETA, protest against killing and abusing animals since few decades whereas Hindu religion is doing that since (god knows how many) centuries. Now why I am writing this for. Dear Beef eating people ( I am one of you), Why do you want to conduct festivals on Beef when it is hurting other people's sentiments. Is our religion preaching us to eat beef no matter what? Or is our religion making it compulsion on beef eating? Show me where it says? Which dharm are you following? I know there is no dharm in the world makes this as compulsory thing. Dont blindly follow any priest or elder who might pose this as an act of self respect which is utter non sense. This is truly an act of damaging the integrity of our nation. First be an Indian then follow your own religion. PLEASE THINK AND RESPECT OTHER RELIGIONS. LIVE AND LET LIVE. looks like this beef festival thing irritated even normal folks. |
