use grep something like grep -e -v '^$|^UN' test.txt | wc -l |

Validator:And operator sangathi theleedu naku kooda, kani, this should work for omitting blank lines, then omitting starting with UN, then omitting starting with UP. awk 'NF' temp | awk '!/^UN/' | awk '!/^UP/' | wc -l
thanks bro, but i need to exclude so many combination of letters to desired result, i make it working but may be we can achieve this by using and operator. |

i need some quick help, for example i have test file, i need to count number lines which does not start with UN, but test file had there are blank lines, how to write some simple awk command |
