Akhil Is Depressed?
Poor Akhil is having a tough time after his release. The film has been declared a disaster and all of industry who once said that he is the next big thing to watch out for, is now writing bad reviews about him.
Now, growing up in the industry, Akhil didn't seem to learn that industry is indeed a tough place to survive in.
After the film's debacle, he has come under great pressure and he had gone off to Goa for a holiday for some peace of mind.
Back after a week, Akhil is said to be taking rest and talk is that he is not too keen on meeting people. On the other hand, his producers are lining up for him, but Akhil hasn't been having any story discussions.
Well, one ought to be thick-skinned to be in the industry and since Akhil is just one film old, people in the industry say that he will learn the tricks of the trade in days to come. |

Minus Share For Akhil In Overseas
Akhil overseas distribution rights were bought for four crore by the buyers that expected the film to be a huge blockbuster.
Akhil turned out to be a nightmare to them on many levels. The film was released in more than 120 screens across US but it only managed to collect around 170K dollars.
Distributors have spent so much on the publicity and theater rents that they had to pay additional amount to that of gross collected from the theaters.
The expenditure on the movie publicity and theater rents cost extra 10 lakhs more than the share collected at the box office. This means Akhil distributor’s share in overseas is minus 10 lakh rupees!
This will go down as epic disaster for not even collecting single NP share from the box office in spite of the buyers bet of 4 crore on it! Akhil has turned out to be disastrous for every buyer that invested in it.
Overseas buyers were left shell shocked with its performance and it is believed that Nagarjuna gave assurance to them by offering his next movies for fairly less amount than the market price. |

The boxoffice result of Akkineni Akhil’s debut film AKHIL has ended up as a devastating blow for it’s overseas distributors and exhibitors. Directed by VV Vinayak and produced by actor Nithiin , this movie has ended up raking negative share at overseas. Perhaps, this may be the first time in recent years a high budgeted telugu movie collecting a negative share in overseas. As we mentioned repeatedly, in previous news reports , this is the major risk with overseas Telugu movie business when new comers into the game without understanding market dynamics.In India, if a movie ends up with below average to flop talk , still it will get 40%(Flop) to 70%(Average) of their investment back for big star movies. But in Overseas, unless movie gets positive mouth talk, distributors can be assured of devastating loss.
‘Akhil’ movie was bought for close to four crore rupees overseas and has resulted in a loss of 4 crore 7 lakh loss to the distributors and ended as one of the colossal flops at overseas box-office. |
