It was a bizarre morning. Prannoy Roy, Arnab Goswami, Rajdeep Sardesai and others rushed to give the elections to the BJP. Instead of recognising the initial feeds as early trends, particularly for as complex and dense a state as Bihar, these august gentlemen with decades of experience started insisting almost from the first 20 odd trends that the polls were going in favour of the BJP. And in just over an hour told their audience that the BJP had won! Or if not won yet, was almost certain to form the government given the ‘trends'. And such is the power of television that the BJP workers rushed out on to the streets in Bihar, blowing conch shells and bursting crackers. And RSS functionary Ram Madhav came out with a victory statement on one of the channels, claiming that the election was won because of the fuss created by the scientists, writers and others in returning their awards!
