Two points I would like to make .. 1) One cant annihilate caste from society, while using caste as a tool! (Lots of folks from 19th century did the same and thats the reason, caste has become more rigid today! Why do you think OBC castes are killing girls for loving Dalit boys??) 2) Why, when and how did Dr. Ambedkar convert to Buddhism? a) Why is a pertinent question - bcoz .. Dr. Ambedkar converted to Buddhism pretty late in this life. b) When is important - bcoz .. What incident triggered him so late in his life, to leave the fold of Hinduism (or so he want it to symbolically represent). c) How is relevant - bcoz .. How can you "convert" yourself from one dharmic faith to another dharmic faith. AFAIK .. there are no rituals to "convert" anyone into dharmic faiths, bcoz dharmic faiths did not believe in converting ppl into theirs!! So, automatically, did Ambedkar come up with a new ritual? PS - Is "neo-buddhism", that our very own Political Observer (@Jpackjack) brother, advocates, the only way out for Dalits and oppressed castes (which I believe in your definition comes to 80% of Hindu society)?
