Well - then that person isn't a liberal, by definition. He is just another citizen with an opinion, but not a liberal - right? Firstly - Why are people making everything about religious - only for non-Hindu victims? Why are people not doing that for Hindu victims? If someone is liberal - they should not even bring religion, when they talk about a specific issue - let alone politicizing it. If someone is liberal - they should in fact rubbish/bash those that rub religion on every piece of news. I don't see that happening - do you? If so, please correct me. Regarding facts: Church attacks - there are facts for everyone to see/read. There is not even an iota of "religion or religious intolerance" in any of these incidents. So, do I see even a single liberal coming out and bashing the biased media and bashing the idiots who tried to create divisions among the people of our country? Agreed. Before the web media, the reputed columnists and op-ed writers waited till they got "hard facts", and then wrote their opinions on Sunday columns. That's why the Sunday columnists still enjoy great reputation. Even now, there are several columnists who write on economics, security, law, etc., wait for "hard facts" and pen down their thoughts. Where as for political issues it's different, with the available information the columnists respond what suits their agenda. This has been the case across the newspapers around the world.
Anything published to propagate false propaganda should be refuted. That includes twisting the facts to suit a particular agenda TRP-mongering media - who created that? Many media outlets are in losses and look at means that provide easy TRP ratings, so that they can charge higher prices to the advertisers. That hasn't changed anything on their balance sheet. It resulted in political affiliation of media, and that has spread. I blame the entire ecosystem for this.
Assuming that that individual you are referring to has freedom to express his opinion. He may feel, what he has expressed is good for the nation, may not be appealing to you. Refute it with proper arugments/evidence. Depending on the strength of the opinion or the support behind the opinion, the discourse will spread. That may or may not be in national interest. - We can't help this part.

Thanks annai. My concern is this: If an individual is outraged based on "hard facts" - he is free to express it (well, I don't see anyone stopping people from doing that) in a dignified way. If an individual expresses "an" opinion based on TRP-mongering news papers' headlines/views -- and not based on "facts" (like police FIRs, etc) -- then irrespective of whether that individual thinks of him/herself as a liberal or otherwise...should be refuted. If an individual makes a scene out of nothing -- or tries to draw the conclusions according to his/her agenda - but not according to what's good for the nation -- even then such opinions/observations should be refuted. My point is, if an individual is outraged over something today, and expressed about his/her views, let's look at the arguments in them. If it has no value, no point in discussing about their arguments. Clear picture can emerge if we compare record of diff govts of the same state.
