my own experience:
I reduced 10Kgs in 4 months!!
What I did:
1)Drink Lots of waters...to suppress hungry with water basically.
2)30 mins daily...elliptical......increase the time/friction to sweat it out...
3)BreakFast: Idly.
4)Lunch:very small quantity of rice+Dal+curd
5)Before Dinner: 1 big bowl of Veg salad
6)Dinner: small cup of rice + curry+curd!

Fat ekkada aithe first vastundo....akkadi nunchi last na pothundi!! So..u just cant reduce onlu belly fat. first..u need to take out ur fat from neck/butts/checst...etc...and lastly Belly!!
So...do work outs..!!

Sweet potato's from indian stores or from american stores?

because yam yam's are different from sweet potato's. Big difference in G.I. Even though Sweet potato G.I is better than normal potato better to substitute with other vegetables like broccoli, (check chicken/fish/shrimp and broccoli stir fry chinese recipe in you tube) beans,cucumbers (very low calories aprx 19 cal/100 gms and reduces water retention) leafy vegetables (if available), salads, sprouts (high is protein and nutritious)

first place to accumulate and last place to leave is belly.

Reason for that, its how we are made, our body tries to reserve or stick to as much as fat possible to be used in emergency or in required situations.

So, belly/abdomen region (including sides) is one place which is less involved in regular moments unlike hands, legs, back, etc, and also recruitment or utilization of muscles for the motion of this places is less and this results in less utilization of energy and more storage.

and spot reduction of belly fat is not possible (its only a myth)

So, best strategy is to aim for a % of fat loss every month. So, there by as fat around lower body, chest, arms, decreases belly fat or midsection fat too starts dropping.

Coming to brown rice and sweet potato, though they are complex carbs, they are still carbs, unless you give some deficit to the body in the form of diet and exercise, eating good carbs may not help you much.

Eat good amount of lean protein like fish, chicken breast, egg whites or supplements. Consider taking atleast 2gm of protein /lb of your weight. This helps in keeping your hunger off, retaining muscle mass and also protein will not be converted into fat.

Use least possible amount of fat/oil in cooking your food.

get the remaining calories from complex carbs maintaining a deficit of 20% of you daily calorie requirements.

get a remaining 10-15% deficit from cardio and do some 2-3 good resistance every day for each muscle group.

1. Avoid junk and oily stuff
2. Eat small amounts but more times a day
3. Every day exercise with differet variations like cardio or weights or squats etc

it's a long process and you need discipline.
Give atleast 3-4 months time
From my own experience.....
1. Start running alternative days, for atleast 2 miles at a time
2. Reduce rice significantly, Brown rice is BETTER than white rice, but rice is rice.
3. drink small amounts of orange juice, twice a day
4. eat good breakfast and eat light dinner and eat dinner at least 3 hours before sleep. Eat small amounts of food 4-5 times, than avoid break fast and eat Lunch buffet..
5. sleep 7-8 hours
6. avoid stress
7. increase protein intake and reduce carbs
