At a very high level, if you understand concept of God, yes, there is nothing to be asked apart from few things: Bhakthi.... It is said that only God can help us in attaining the will power needed for bhakti and without his help it'd be impossible..... So, ask him for more and more bhakthi..... Iskcon daggaranunchi all bhakthi sampradayas preach this..... Other than that, let's say your son is hungry. Whom will he ask food for. Even though he knows that his mother would provide him with food, when he is really hungry, he will ask mother for food. Same thing with us too... If you are in a dire need of something, you can ask God for help.... Nothing wrong in it. After all, he is our father and mother. My personal view. (God is a very personal aspect and so it differs from person to person) There is no point asking God for anything - because either God knows everything or God is not looking at small trivial aspects of human civilization. Either way, I don't see how my asking Him would change things. God has a higher purpose than letting me clear my board exams. I also don't believe in idol worship. Again, I am torn between the two schools of thought - God is everywhere - and God is not here at all and is not someone we can talk to at this level of consciousness. Either way, I don't find it fulfilling to go/pray/pooja idols in temples or even at home. I believe in the saying "Manava Seve Madhava Seva" completely. If we do good things, God will know (Or He won't because of his higher role). Praying in a temple or doing kalyanam for him, in my personal opinion, doesn't give us any edge. I also believe in one God and several messengers of him each having his or her own way of interpreting God. Based on those interpretations, ways of life have evolved over time and become religions.
