Do this little experiment: For every release of an iPhone, see the most popular newly introduced features (TouchID, 3D touch, Retina Display, Control center etc.) and then see when those features were introuced (if at all they were ever introduced) in the top three competitor's phones. Rank the phones based on when these key features were introduced. If you do this experiment sincerely, you will find that Apple iPhone ranks #1 in innovation (or early introduction of popular features). The competitors, when singled out, are no match. However, if you bunch all the competitors together and say "Hey this was in Lumia already, this was in Samsung Galaxy already etc." then they do match up to the iPhone. Now the question is, why is there so much talk about an iPhone's newly introduced feature being present in an older model of a competitor and rarely ever a discussion about a competitor introducing a feature that has been around in an iPhone. The answer is simple: Everybody knows that they such and Apple rocks. No wonder at all if Apple beat them. But total surprise when Apple lags behind even in a small feature.
