Just before release of Srimanthudu, Mahesh was a man of shivers and severe tension. The movie went on to become the career best for Mahesh and indeed set a non-Baahubali record for becoming the highest grosser ever in the TFI. But before the movie release just a day before the release superstar was literally in shivers. He said, "First of all, I am happy that Srimanthudu is accepted by one and all and became a huge success. Let us not bother about its collections and or records whatever." Sharing the experience a day before movie release, he said, "I was in shivers. My hands were shaking and I was so tensed. My previous two movies did not fare well. 1 Nenokkadine though was better, its length killed its box office fate and Aagadu happened to be a big mistake from me, so Srimanthudu was my hope and if its result dashed our hopes probably it would have become very hard for me to take it." But there was something else than content of the movie that made Mahesh worried about Srimanthudu's fate. He shared, "After Magadheera there was no hit from Telugu for more than two months. Since Srimanthudu released after Baahubali, I was quite nervous if the movie would be received or not after such a massive and landslide super hit.
