Cinejeevi:Since parents are supporting the special kids like anything, how about their siblings if they have one/two?? Are they supportive?? If no siblings yet, r u planning to have one so that he/she will take care when u r tired?? I am just asking from emotional support point of view only...
In our case, we decided that we will have another one .
We are expecting a girl now - hoping that she would be a normal one. We took the decision when our son was still showing some disturbing signs. Fortunately in the last three months my son has improved quite a bit. From no speech to using small phrases. His interaction with others also changed. Until last four months or so he would rarely respond to his name or any sound if its not music. Now he responds to his name most times by looking in the direction of call. Said "amma" and "daddy" for the first time in the last month.
Does not seem to be interested when other kids around, but he started remembering other kids names when they are not around.

India trip mundu he used to eat oats and lot of other stuff. ipudu 3-4 items tintunnadu  . nutritionist appt tiskovali.
he eats curd rice, rasam rice, bread ,chapati and dosa only. dosa/bread should be plain. Jello ante tinedaa? we did not try
walking in grass etc no issues. and apudapud notlo edi padithe adi pettukuntadu. but again, when he does that he teases us, and spits it. |

naa parichayasthullo okari first kid (girl) is special. Second kid (boy) is normal and age gap is about 3 years or so. when it is a chance it could be either way.
I asked that question only out of concern but not out of curiosity!!!
with parents aging (which is obvious) it is their duty/dharma to make sure their kids are safe after them anna context lo (even in general where the kids are not special but normal) adigaa.

Its mostly asymptomatic. But dont decide not to have 2nd one because of this. I suggest you speak to a genetic counselor. Both you and your wife should get tested to see if either or both are carriers. If you both are carriers, then there will be a 25% risk of hacing a thalassemia major baby. I know one case (my distant cousin who lives in NJ) has two sons. second one is having similar issue. aa inTlo tanokkattE lady. after certain age taking care of grown-up is not easy (especially boy). for him they have father and another elder boy.

We decided against any more kids.
First 1 year lo 3 months NICU lo unnaru. taruvatha 1.5 years chinna papa hospital lo undindhi, and we literally spent a lot of time with her at the hospital, switching roles at home and hospital. appati nunchi, pedhha ammai (one with autism) meedha ekkuva spend cheyalsi vasthundhi.
We cannot have another kid.
But to your question, my lil one really wants to play with her sister and looks very supportive (although both are just 4) |

Depending on the severity, you can see the symptoms as early as 6 months. But usually 1.5 years is the age a definitive diagnosis can be made.
Maverick: is autism environment linked?
Its largely genetic, but yes there is environmental component. Certain chemicals can interfere with the brain development. I think main problem might be in the large scale food processing techniques they are using now a days. Some chemicals, not sure what they are, are impeding fetal development ani naa belief.

Its incredible that there are schools with ABA in your state. In Texas, I don't think any public school offers ABA.

Even the US government is not spending much towards the research.
