Srimanthudu is Swades done in Telugu formula way, wrong way. After watching any message oriented movie, one should emotionally connect with main character of movie. For example, after watching Swades, you wish you could be like Mohan Bhargava. Or after watching Rudraveena, you wish you could see more Suryams. None of such feelings arise for Harsha after watching Srimanthudu. There is no two sided logical and related discussions about the problem in the movie like the arguements between friends in Rang De Basanti or arguements between Mihan Bhargava and villagers in Swades. or no strong emotional incident which makes the main character to own the problem. Like a person dying in his hands breaks Suryam's calm. No such strong incident for Harsha. And hence, audience never get themselves connected with the actual problem shown in movie. Also, the issues Suryam face in Rudraveena, while solving problem is as high as mountain. Or the solution Mihan Bhargava shown was practical, if not the issues he face at problem solving were not that big. For Harsha all he has to do was sign some cheques or bash some goons, which he is very good at. All you feel there in movie is the problem or solution are not global issues but very personal to Harsha. You can't call this a message oriented movie if the message you give is kill the villains same way as them, making no difference between Hero and villain. Hmm, now let us consider this is not a message oriented movie, but just a commercial formula flick. For that it is boring and barring one or two songs none are good. Movie looked slow and dragged. The only positive for the commercial flick is Mahesh screen presence and the choreography of fights, Now to conclude Platy's review, Srimathudu is Khaleja done horribly. Wait for DVD movie. General ga this is my experience as well. Naaku baga nachinavi average to above average set avuthayyi. Nachi nachchanattu vundevi Pedda block busters avuthayyi I guess manaki complete nachaledhante manaki opposite views vunnavallaki koncham nachinatte kadha. So it makes logical sense it covers wider range of audience  Hope to catch this movie today, if I can get tickets | ||

Srimanthudu is Khaleja done right. The basic storyline is very similar to what Trivikram had attempted earlier. However, Srimanthudu takes awfully long time to get to the point. Once it does though, it is a gripping ride until of course the constraints of delivering a mass-ive Telugu movie ruin the final act. The movie’s first half is nothing to write home about. Mahesh gets to underplay his character so much that we start wondering what he is doing in the movie. The love track between him and his leading lady is handled with delicately and for once, most characters in the movie act as they would in real life without throwing tantrums. However, the track is stretched too thin and by the time the interval bang comes, we are scratching our heads praying God (Read Koratala) that the proverbial twist in the tale - the third gear of the narration should come soon. When it finally gets to the third gear, the wheels are revved so much that the pace quickly moves onto the fourth, fifth and even sixth gear. Things happen at breakneck speed. Most of those are predictable stuff of course but still the screenplay is really gripping. The act of a good samaritan who gives his all and more to a village is shown beautifully. Mahesh consciously steered clear of any attempt at elevating his character. That is a welcome relief. It is exactly here that Srimanthudu scores over Khaleja though the plot is eerily similar. He gets into the skin of the character completely and for once, we forget that it is the Superstar on the screen. We see only Harshavardhan. Humor is handled with utmost responsibility. Vennela Kishore and Ali provide the laughs but given the pretty serious premise of the movie, they are thankfully relegated to the background. Songs look good on screen. However, CGI and DI leaves a lot to be desired. Certain sequences, where computer graphics could have been avoided with better planning, look awfully artificial and obviously greenmatted. Thankfully, no item number! In hindsight, the movie would have been great had the first half been trimmed by half an hour and the climax a little more intelligently written. Shruti Hasan and Rajendra Prasad do their parts efforlessly. Jagapathi Babu needs to improve his action if he wants a long second innings in Telugu cinema. All in all, definitely a one-time watch.
