COBRA : you will have 60 days to use it. Keep it as standby. Don't pay
If you have any emergency/hospitalization then use it

meanwhile buy short term insurance from www.ehealthinsurance.com, which can be used for emergency cases.

Alochinchu:

what AW mean is you will have 60 days to enroll.. so hold the forms and do not enroll. if some emergency comes then enroll COBRA, it is retro so it should start the day you left the job..

anyway.. it is not good idea to keep break in coverage.. some insurances look into that and may decline some services..

antha ledu. Insurance ki emi issues undavu

Janmabhoomi:

You have 60 days to elect for COBRA. However, if you decide to sign up on the 60th day, the coverage is retroactive (of course, you still have to pay the premiums for the retroactive dates). Since you have less than 60 days between coverage dates, you can wait out. If no need to use insurance during that period, you are fine. If you have to see a doctor, you can still sign up for COBRA if it less than 60 days.

I was in this situation few years ago and I waited our and fortunately did not require any medical attention during that time. Hope this helps.

Thokka,

This is correct.

U will take COBRA form and hold on to it. ENd of 30th day u have no issue u need not pay single dollar.

But bad luck tho hospitalization laanti pedha bill vunte u use the services, flll the form and mail the check. everuthing will be covered

You have to decide by 60th day which makes it retro active to the next day after you left. It is valid for 18 months as long as you pay premiums
Resignation also makes you eligible.

kinda cheppinatlu you can play the system or tala noppi enduku anukunte sign up

if you enrolled in benefits with current employer, the employer should provide you COBRA after termination. It is valid for year. The benefits will be same but you have to pay employer portion also (if any) and may be administration fee..
