We should increase the rate of executions. Law should be very clear about what crimes constitute capital offense. 'Rarest of the Rare' is a dumb rule created by judges. Death penalty is not only about deterrent, it is rightful vengeance on behalf of the citizens. | ||

annai, this is incorrect. In the recent past, there was a rapist who was hanged, if I remember correctly. Where were all these "sickular", "adarsh" liberals at that time? why didn't they fight for his death sentence to be commuted? | ||

Am against capital punishment, however heinous the crime may be. A civilised society cannot kill a person or an animal (though it happens often). One may argue, if capital punishment is abolished, that there won't be any deterrence for someone to commit a crime. Putting someone in jail for entire life, rejecting the right to freedom is the biggest punishment to the offenders. !ntfi | ||
