Disagree - very hard to generalize. Whatever a kid gains negativity from Film can be made void through Parenting. So if we take a case where there are no other factors like parenting, surrounding environment "Visual" Media makes a big impact - because measuring of impact is difficult doesnt mean the impact itself is nill. Filmbuff, Your sensibilities might be different from the rest of the folks. So you want to change it. :-). Not all people react the same way for the sceens on screen. That's why there were different genres of films and different rating so you could choose based on your sensibilities. does you kids get offended by undressing of avantika, but not when hero climbs the mountains and/or kills 100s of people. If you are worried that they would develop degenerate feelings by watching the avanthika episode, what about the rest? Either you can teach them that film is purely fictional and portrays certain fictional characters behavior but can't be repeated is fine. But to hide them is waste. I don't know their age, but they will eventually catch upon them. Kids dance to foot tapping music but might not worry about what the meaning of the lyric is. Since you can visualize the words, it is offensive to you. I saw this video, what is so objectionable in what she is saying...anne correct gane cheppindi ga... But i don't fathom why the audiences have to encourage all these disgusting crap on TV..they can just switch the TV off or see something else. It is not like Doordarshan days when only one channel was there and one was forced to see it. There is enough choice nowadays. Why does this girl not tell her parents to stop watching that crap. Ultimately filmmakers would also have to realise the consequences of their actions..take my case, if not for that embarrassing strip tease of Tamanna in BB, i could have taken my kids, and saw it 2-3 times. They lost some revenue there. If audiences vote with their feet, that they will not tolerate such nonsense, filmmakers will automatically realise. Similarly in Hindi too, i don't watch any Hindi movies with kids, as they are even more embarassing.. but if you see all the Diwali and New Year apartment programs, one sees parents clapping to their kids dancing to Chittiyaan Kalaiyann (which is thoroughly regressive song) or Baby Doll..parents have to create and nurture a certain value system in their kids...as filmmakers see that the parents actually are loving their item numbers, they are making more of them.. Her comments should not be on films solely (especially on telugu films). We can say portrayal of women in bollywood is even worse. A movie is generally to cater to various genres. Like in the masses(in villages), people like these MS/Ali being hit etc. People in cities (like her) like other things (heroine amongst others). Like people in this thread thinks her dress obscene and others may not think like that. We like it or not, there is a huge demand for jabardhast like programs on TV. adenti... boys vs girls aypoyindi.... well i didnt agree with her cause i think ppl got the whole romantic episode wrong.... not cause she is wearing clothes of her choice... so that way i differentiate with some posters on this thed... i like girls who do whatever they want to do... so let me post my opinion on why She and other who called it sexist are wrong: 1. Prabhas as a character is inquisitive on what is above the water falls... and the image of her gives him motivation to go above. 2. when he reaches there he sees that she is a warrior and not stalking her, but a person who didnt see any other world is just inquisitive. 3. in the movie there is one scene were the female looks into the water like a mirror... and she wants to look beautiful... deep inside she is a girl who wants to dress like a girl cute dresses nice accessories etc... but she is killing people mercilessly and wandering for a reason she doesnt fully understand... 4.there was simply no time for director to establish that fact.. so you got to read between the lines there.. 5. When hero realises that she wants to look beautiful, he "gifts" her with what she always wondered... about her beauty.... that makes her fall for him... 6. As per story they both need to be in such a deep love, that hero has to take over that female character's mission however dangerous it is. 7. again, the love story's purpose is to give a new Aim for the hero... and director simply didnt have time to establish a full blown love story.. cuz that is not what we are expecting. this movie is an adventure ride for baahubali... and waterfalls, tammana being his love are all paths in the way.... and he won her by making her realize what she always wanted to.. and i dont think thats sexist.. yah if he wanted to be politically right... he could have spend another 20 mins explaining why tammu started to like prabhas.. but thats not the point of the whole story...
