Kdnumber1:Brave Heart. Is this the inspiration for $28 movie ticket? OK RajaMouli fans - you are right, there's no face paint for Baahubali and therefore, it's very original. smile emoticon Seriously, I am very conflicted about this 'epic' movie. I applaud RajaMouli's effort. But at the same time, from what I read about the movie so far, I have my doubts if there is any originality either in the story or production. BTW, I refuse to see the movie on principle ($28? Come on!) In spending, production cost and duration, there's a ring to this movie - a la Lord of the Rings (no pun intended). I am happy for fans of Prabhas. But, to me it appears that the real Baahu Bali is Raja Mouli. Also, Prabhas is no Mel Gibson. Not as an actor anyway. However, Prabhas is definitely a better person than Mel Gibson. I give you that. How many among you Prabhas fans remember the actor who played Aragorn in Lord of the Rings? Exactly... In case you didn't get my drift, the real hero of Lord of the Rings is Peter Jackson - not Viggo Mortensen who played Aragorn. Like wise, the real Bahubali here is Rajamouli, not Prabhas. I am not suggesting Prabhas will be forgotten like Mortenson, but it could happen. With his $1 bil plus production budget on two Tolken trilogies, Peter Jackson brought a lot of tourism to New Zealand. In fact, not just New Zealand's tourism and but its entire economy got a tremendous boost because of Peter Jackson. I don't think this Rajamouli's effort is anyway close or will yield any such results. But just to qualify the entire effort as "commendable for an Indian movie maker", as many are doing (example Amitabh Bachchan) is an indication of the sorry state of Indian cinema. Go ahead and takedown my takedown of Bahubali. But, no need to get personal.
A typical slave mentality which can bow down to a Hollywood film with mediocore content but will not to an Indian film just because it was made by an person who he is familiar with. If the ticket costs $28, he can just shut his pie hole and carry on with his life. I bet the same person would not have uttered a word when the same Peter Jackson made a stupid unrealistic, illogical and run of the mill Hobbit in 3D and charged twice the ticket amount. |
