Indian innovation is a joke i partially agree. We are still evolving.. Most of our middle class life style do not allow to take risk due to some social stigma and failure is differently seen in india compared to waste.. Indian innovation is a joke.. at least as far as digital world is concerned... theres no real innovation happening in India. at the height of my start-up i was working with 4-5 guys based in India and all were only good for programming roles and none knew anything about the latest UI tech. of course these are all indigenous who have never been exposed to foreign way of doing things.... innovation and india is an oxymoron in my opinion. you can have evolution in india no revolution.. also location matters a lot anyone doing a start-up (tech) and not basing in bangalore is already at a loss. bangalore is just another world. Hyd, Pune, Delhi, all pale in comparison. these cities create run of the mill B-tech babus...bangalore has people creating some really really good stuff. ee flipkart, snapdeal lolli....ecommerce has been around since 1990s. And moreover Sequoia has closed its offices in India I think that speaks volumes. In terms of bania start ups. Israeli startup scene chusthe ardam ayyitadhi how lame Indian scene is. Hyderabad or Bangalore or pune right now everyone wants to just replicate western success stories, original innovation happening per se is very miniscule. Real innovation hasn't happened yet so I'm optimistic that more inmobi kinda stories are waiting to happen until then ecosystem, talent etc.. are very rich words. Largely, but quite big for startup hiring too. Our aim is slightly broader to supplement that with regular advisory services as a online funding marketplace does not make much money 
I am a skeptic about all these incubators and accelerators, especially from the govt. I feel that govts. should not get into this, can be a easy avenue funding companies they like. So strong people on board are required to maintain autonomy of these accelerators. The incubators do not give more than 10-15 lakhs for your venture, so that might just suffice for some initial funding, so you would have to approach other networks for seed funding which is usually around 50 lakhs to a crore in size. And furthermore, unless is quite strapped for cash, i would not go to an incubator as they take a rather large equity for that 10 -15 lakhs. And it might help folks who have no idea of running a business in getting some high level advice. Spurring entrepreneurship is a laudable idea but govt. should do more by easing processes and regulations than provide some piddly amt. I don't have much hopes for all these Vizag kind of startup incubators. As i said earlier, Hyd itself has a poor ecosystem and Vizag is rather stretching it. | ||
