Even if he signs a new contract, the can trade him after in Februrary. Trade value is more with a new contract, because the new knows they will have him for 4-5 years. Teams are reluctant to give too many assets for players on 1 year contract. I have said this many times...it does not make sense for him not to opt out. Even if he wants to be a free agent next season, its better for him to opt out and sign a 2 max year contract with with a 2nd year player option. He will have nearly 20 Million more in guaranteed money at exactly the same risk as opting in. | ||
