Have you appeared for patent agent exam? if you pass that you will have better opportunities As far as i know patent agents do make good money and the market is increasing cant understand why do you want to shift from such a niche field | ||

one more area is : going for higher education in mechanical engg and picking PhD in a great univ/school in a field that involves computers and mech both. though it seems like a break in career in long run might yield spectacular results. (by watching close friends who are exactly mech engg and working for top notch software companies now) | ||

IT is more hectic and worrisome area for sure. reason simple: shift in technology is very dramatic. But if you are ready for that, few things - pick QA or DEV-OPS best entry. programming is a tough thing. - mentally prepare for 1-2 years of continuous effort to JUST to entry and then continuous pressure for few years. your best resources are going to be - your close friends who can spend time teaching you rather than coaching centers. And your friend should work in the field you want to go. overall, looking at things, in long run being in IT may or may not matter based on how you look at it. if someone looking for an opporutinity to go places and work probably IT is easiest way. but looking at tensions and pressures, eventually money etc may not make much difference. | ||

I am a Mechanical Engineer passed out in 2007. I am into R&D from past 7 yrs in Pune. Now I am planning to shift into IT field in Hyderabad. Some people are suggesting Testing and some are saying to go for Oracle, .NET , etc., training. Full confusion. Please please help me with your suggestions. Krishna |
