Next week planning to go Spiti Valley, around 4500 metres altitude. Tour operator has said altitude sickness might be possible and advised taking Diamox (acetazolamide) a couple of days before we start. Did anyone to go high altitudes before and any precautions you took. Is it safe to take Diamox (apparently it is used often by climbers and mountaineers).
