@ Lenin: And this is the time when the concept of a "Welfare State" needs to be reinforced all the more. Paradoxically, the best time is now (when the Govt has saved Rs.80,000 Crs on Oil Import Bill) - and yet - we are facing un precedented cuts in Welfare schemes targeting Rural Education, Rural Primary Health, Public Distribution etc. Some of the countries which have a good quality of life like Canada, Sweden etc are Socialist :-) Even New Zealand or Australia are first Welfare states and then free market driven..... | ||

@ Lenin: You should have understood by now. There is a mental dichotomy in India i.e. there are 2 India s 1. About 30-40% of the people who want malls, freeways, Airports, Multi level parking, water parks, sky planes etc as their basic needs have been taken care of over the last 65 years 2. The remaining 60-70% who are still dependent on the Govt for their basic education, health, transportation as the benefits of "development" has still not percolated fast enough. | ||
