What none of the articles appears to mention is that the value of the shares that he has given up is notional. In fact, the way the company is headed, there might be no value to their shares. Most people in the media are not aware of how the investor agreements are structured. Until they take their money and more (usually 2X) out, the promoters and others will get nothing. I think this moron knows that that the value of his holding is 0, because of all his antics over the past few months, and hence has given it up. And he is making a virtue of it. Furthermore, he apparently bought a Porsche Cayenne too. I find that too incredible to believe. The investors do not seem to have any control over the management. Usually there are clauses in the agreements that restrict salary payments and usually salaries are minimal until they acquire multi billion valuations like Flipkart etc. I have interacted with many big promoters from Flipkart to Snapdeal and all of them are quite modest. And lastly the investors are as much to blame. You have a promoter who has minimal stake (< 5%), badmouths investors and the board in public, creates PR disasters, blows up scores of crores in worthless advertising, finally resigns and STILL the board retains him. They can easily get a professional CEO. The most important fcuk up is that Housing.com does not have a USP. I went to the site only once despite all this stupid carpet bombing of ads, saw the depth of listings and saw that it was very poor compared to Magicbricks or 99acres. I never went back again. All this heatmaps and UX is all prettiness. | ||
