I read this just now....it looks like using crystalline silicon (which can be readily mass manufactured) they already improved the efficiency to 25% it seems by the end of 2014...so, 25% is already a great number....may be this is one of the reasons hitting the oil prices already... this is great improvement already considering that in 2002 when I was taking some courses, I heard conversion efficiencies of 5% !! | ||

conversion efficiency peddaga peragaledhu...amount of light converted to energy hasn't changed that much 10-15% nunchi 15-20% for commercial solar cells... In German labs, they developed cells with some rare materials that can give a 45% conversion efficiency..If people are able to mass manufacture these rare cells then that will break the back of the oil market completely...that day will surely come in another 10 years.... semiconductor manufacturing is hitting a deadend due to the end of Moore's law...ee Fabs loo konni will switch to making high-end solar cells ani naa belief around 2020-2025....that will hit the oil market really bad... | ||

Solar cells conversion factors loo emanna material breakthroughs vasthe, naa saami ranga, ittade ee Aaarab nako laku....top research companies and engg schools all the way from MIT to IITs are working on new materials and improving energy conversion efficiency of solar cells, just a matter of time..... if the solar cells become more efficient, then it will be mataash for sheikhs...world will get better... | ||
