However the majority of the respondents said that Modi-government is performing exceedingly well, the saffron party is expected to loss seats if the Lok Sabha Elections takes place now. The opinion poll results also shows that people believe Rahul Gandhi will bring reform in Congress and the party will witness a revival in the next five years. (Also read: Narendra Modi quips Raghuram Rajan ‘perfect’; PM says, ‘Government and RBI think on similar lines’) Performance of BJP in last 10 months: In a good news for the BJP, 69 per cent of the respondents find Narendra Modi-led government’s performance either beyond the expectations or meets the expectations. While 25 per cent of them said that the government performed below the expectations. Narendra Modi: India best Prime Minister? According to the opinion poll, Narendra Modi is rated India’s best prime minister till now with 30 per cent of the votes. Former prime minister and veteran BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee received 20 per cent of the votes getting second spot in the list. Indira Gandhi got third place with only 13 per cent of the respondents considering her as the best prime minister of the country. Development or Hindutva: What does Modi represent? Despite the allegation for spreading Hindutva, 52 per cent of the respondents said Modi represents development and good governance. Modi represents Hindutva, according to the 16 of the respondents. 36 per cent thought that Modi is being controlled by BJP’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) while the 39 per cent of the respondents think otherwise. Did Modi succeed to bring economic reforms? As per the opinion poll results, 36 per cent of the respondents said that the economy has improved under the Modi-government. 29 per cent of the respondents are not impressed by the Modi-government and said that the economy hasn’t improved in the last ten months and it won’t get better in the next six months also. Development or Hindutva: Where should Narendra Modi focus? 27 per cent of the respondents wish that Modi should focus at the issue of price rise first while 24 per cent of them wanted him to reduce corruption first. Only 3 per cent of the respondents asked him to give priority to build Ram Temple in Ayodhya. If Elections held today: If Lok Sabha Elections take place now, the BJP is likely to lose 27 seats, the opinion poll suggested. The party may win 255 seats in the polls. The BJP had won 282 seats in the general elections 2014. Congress is likely to increase its number of seats. Congress is likely to get 9 more seats than the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Congress had won just 44 seats in the Lok Sabha 2014 elections. Will Congress bounce back? The opinion poll also shows that people still have some faith in Congress. 48 per cent of the respondents believe that the party can witness a revival in the next five years. 46 per cent of the respondents also think that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has the potential to turn the fortunes of the party. Rahul was also named as the favorite PM candidate from the party with 20 of the votes. 13 per cent of them termed Sonia Gandhi as the best choice while around 1 per cent of the respondents for the post picked Priyanka Gandhi. Interestingly, 45 per cent said that Priyanka Gandhi should take charge of Congress replacing her brother. Who is the best Chief Minister? Despite the fact that Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party is on the verge of split, Delhi Chief Minister is termed as the best chief minister with 17 per cent of the votes. Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav gets second spot. Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Odhisa CM Naveen Patnaik came third, fourth and fifth respectively in that list. |
