life is easy here. If he is a US citizen, he can directly go to any bank which transacts foreign exchange and he can ask them to give USD(drafts or TC) and he can carry them to US. There is no issue for such cases for any sum under $1 million. If he is not a US citizen, he needs to get permission from RBI to repatriate. RBI usually doesn't object if he proves that this money is received from proper sources and the taxes are paid on it. Bhayya last time I posted about this and reposting here. I had a RE property on my name in India. I made a clean transaction out of it (no black money involved have taken a hit on the price as I needed everything in white). Dad friend CA oka letter chesi ichindu that the proceeds were from a RE sale and attached the sale deed etc. I got all the money deposited into NRO account. Along with that letter I had initiated the outward remittance back into my US account. This was done some 5-6 years ago. I don't remember if there was a limit at that time but I could do entire money around Rs. 15 lakhs transaction. I don't remember the exchange rate, evaro adiginru about it. Money vachinda kada ana santhosham ekkuva unde than the exchange rate. If you have NRE account make sure you also have NRO too. All proceeds can be deposited into NRO first and then repatriate easily. My account was with ICICI | ||
