the victims were deputy range officer N.R. Sridhar, 49, and assistant beat officer David Karunakar, 42. Six others managed to escape, but one forest officer was seriously injured in the incident that occurred in the Peddabandala Chenu forests.
Officials said that a team of eight officers went into the forest on Sunday morning following information provided by a smuggler who had been nabbed on Thursday, that about 100 smugglers were chopping down red sanders trees.
According to Chandrasekhar, who survived the gruesome attack with minor injuries, the officers halted their vehicle and were proceeding on foot when they were pelted with stones from all directions. |

vunkl, it is about controlling the situation. are you saying, police should be killing on job as a part of operations? if they have killed 20 people, while in control of the situation it amounts to a mass killing. to gain this control over the situation, the only choice they had seems to be killing, which is unfortunate. and tear gas is one other such tool, and it might have not been effective here, and i did not say it would have worked. did i? i am just arguing based on what happend, not based on what ifs.
vunkl.....you use tear gas when u want to disperse a mob....the purpose of this voperation is to arrest the smugglers, NOT to disperse them...you don't go into a forest in the middle of the night to whistle and throw tear gas and scare the smugglers/dacoits away....tou want to catch them and bring them to justice....when police tried to arrest them, they retaliated and attacked with weapons....in self defense, police had to shoot.....what am i missing here?....These guys may not be operating under a bandit like veerappan, but they are very much similar to veerappan's gang in nature...They are used to killing forest officers..... |

AP police went some of the TN villages and made announcements to not indulge in these activities as it is against law. Then they started combing and every now and then they had registered PD act against them. Nothing prevented them and they even killed two forest rangers. all this while they are pretty much aware that what they are doing is against law and the state govt time and again tried to convince and stop them with peaceful means. None really bothered. Now since they left no other option they choose what is probably the best solution they could implement . Create the fear to enter forests. If poor can indulge in anti social activities why on earth we have to condemn any terrorist naxlite activities. they are also poor and that is the prime reason they have joined in such outfits. I think Ap has played all its cards before resorting to this.Now using regional card doesn't really make any sense and it won't make any good impression of TN people.Till today i was supporting LTTE and Tamil concerns in every debate but no more guys. You are well aware we are inruding into sri Lankan waters for fishing and Indian govt still obliges your requests as as a nation we consider them as Indians. But today I really doubt whether you would reciprocate that .Irrespective of any creed, religion and region if one is guilty of unsocial activities one has to be punished . If regions should have special tolerance levels then why we need IPC. jsut scrap everything and legalize terrorism, best way to eliminate not only poverty even humanity.

worst of the worst not even giving value to police who are defending their lives and doing their duty.
out 8, one police constable has been transported to different hospital as the ICU facility is not enough in the current hospital
so police need to wait until the injuries are major and one of them loses a life? given the fact already in prev such incidents 3 of their fellow officers killed.

I see alot of issues here. poyindhi smugglers ye kadha anedhi foint ayithe, no disco. what police did here goes against, what they should be doing.
they are entitled to defend themselves, but unna situation was bound to turn that way. i feel the intention was to eliminate the smugglers by hook or crook, which will go against the law of the land.
checks and balances light, give full authority ante, it will bite the feeding hand.
whatever happend, its a sad incident. its not a millitary operation, there is a diffrence, note chesuko galaru. |

Before this encounter AP govt arrested 3k smugglers in year 2014 alone. AP police went some of the TN villages and made announcements to not indulge in these activities as it is against law. Then they started combing and every now and then they had registered PD act against them. Nothing prevented them and they even killed two forest rangers. all this while they are pretty much aware that what they are doing is against law and the state govt time and again tried to convince and stop them with peaceful means. None really bothered. Now since they left no other option they choose what is probably the best solution they could implement . Create the fear to enter forests. If poor can indulge in anti social activities why on earth we have to condemn any terrorist naxlite activities. they are also poor and that is the prime reason they have joined in such outfits. I think Ap has played all its cards before resorting to this |

Gsn1:Ayya MS garu, We can always criticize ANY ACTION that is taken by Police/Politicians.
It is GOOD for democracy to question government actions, but in this case, I think the deceased doesn't need any sympathy.
vaarni.. nenu cops ni ekkada criticize sesthunnaa vunkls... inga na valla kaadhi. my POV is from the point of planning such an operation and minimising causalities both ways... if possible escape with mininmal bloodshed.
please not that most cops are not trained for such heavy wieghts.. inga nannu voggeyandi vunkls...
i just feel that cops got lucky this time... what if cops lost their lives in such an operation? is it worth the financial lose that was being caused here to the state? ground lo pani sese vallani lepithe.. smuggling rings only get inhibited for soo long ... anyway, im going in circles and circles.. |

bottom line... police do not have the right to kill anybody, however big the criminal is, unless in case of self defence. in this case i feel they put themselves in that situation antunnaan....
i am not supporting smugglers here.. but police job is to arrest them, not kill them. unfortunate cases lo such things happen,but to say that they did the right thing by killing is not right. Not blaming the police here, they were doing a tough job, but they have played into a dangerous situation, and its their own doing ani naa aakula view. ////

The whole incident is about 3am in that dense forest having those many guys at one place and attacked on duty police is diffidently something which is nothing but dangerous/harm to society/state. ika migilina vishayalanni not even 1% worth to debate. |
