I-94 will be tied to I-797A, which will be tied to your Visa stamp-number, all-in-all tied to your SSN, and thereby your DL, in US Immigration databases. Passport is issued by India. by default, i believe (personal opinion), i94 will expire automatically with your passport... so you need USCIS to issue new i94 which matches the old i94 date... But better option is to file for h1 extension before april 11  safe answer antey company lawyer is better, since this is not "Very common".. forums lo answers ki picha lesthadi doubt ekkaddoooooo podusthuuuuu untadi.
