BJP Releases Manifesto for AP By Express News Service - VISAKHAPATNAM Published: 26th April 2014 10:17 AM Last Updated: 26th April 2014 10:18 AM Email 0 Promising an inclusive development of Andhra and Rayalaseema, the BJP has promised to turn Seemandhra into Swarnandhra. BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu, who released the manifesto for Andhra Pradesh here on Friday, said that his party was committed to protect the interests of the people of Seemandhra and develop the truncated state into a sought-after destination for investments and development. The manifesto focuses on issues arising after the stateâs bifurcation and assures to make necessary amendments and implement the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act-2014 to provide legal sanctity including increasing the special category state status period from five years to 10 years. The highlights of the manifesto include completion of the Polavaram project as a national multi-purpose project, linking of rivers to provide irrigation and drinking water to all regions, implementation of Swaminathan Committee recommendations, special incentives for increasing power generation by at least 1,000 MW every year, development of Vizag-Chennai industrial corridor, separate IT Investment Regions in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, exploration of the Krishna-Godavari Basin for petroleum and natural gas and their extraction, development of the Vizag, Vijayawada and Tirupati airports to international status, decentralised administration and restructuring of the existing 13 revenue districts into 25 districts. In the current circumstances, Naidu said, the nation needs a stable government led by an able and committed leader to improve the growth rate and, in turn, develop the country. âThe stateâs division is a reality and cannot be undone now. Political parties should stop misleading people in this regard and, instead, focus on development of the new state which has all the resources. Personally, I will shoulder the responsibility of taking up the rightful requirements of Andhra Pradesh state and its development, just like I had fought for protecting the interests of Seemandhra when the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act was introduced in Parliament.â Naidu reiterated that only the victory of the BJP-TD combine, and the emergence of Narendra Modi as prime minister and N Chandrababu Naidu as chief minister would spur development of the two Telugu states.
